Augmentin 457mg/5ml syrup is a high-strength oral suspension containing amoxicillin (400mg) and clavulanic acid (57mg) per 5ml. It is used in children and infants to treat bacterial infections that require broader coverage due to resistance. The clavulanic acid component inhibits beta-lactamase enzymes, allowing amoxicillin to remain effective. This strength is typically reserved for more serious infections or cases where a higher amoxicillin dose is needed. Indications Indicated for the treatment of pediatric bacterial infections, including: Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (e.g. pneumonia, tonsillitis, otitis media) Urinary tract infections Skin and soft tissue infections Dental infections Dosage and Administration To be used under medical supervision only. Shake well before use. Children (based on body weight):Typical dosing is 25 mg to 45 mg/kg/day divided into two dosesFor severe infections: up to 70 mg/kg/day (based on amoxicillin component) Infants under 3 months: Use with caution and adjusted dose Duration: Usually 5??????10 days, depending on infection type and severity Administer using an accurate dosing syringe or spoon.
