Directions for Use (Step-by-Step Guide)
- Place the patient in a seated or lying position with the arm supported at heart level.
- Wrap the cuff snugly around the upper arm.
- Close the air-release valve on the inflation bulb.
- Inflate the cuff until pulse sounds disappear.
- Place the stethoscope over the brachial artery.
- Slowly release air while observing the mercury column.
- Note systolic and diastolic readings at appropriate Korotkoff sounds.
- Deflate the cuff completely after measurement.
