It is used in the management of microangiopathies such as diabetic retinopathy, hemorrhoidal syndrome (condition of inflamed and swollen blood vessels in rectum or around anus), chronic venous insufficiency/vascular dysfunction and adjuvant to superficial thrombophlebitis (causing clot in superficial veins), and other microcirculation disorders of arteriovenous origin. The medication reduces the permeability or leakage in the blood vessels by acting on collagen chains, resulting in strengthening of the vessel walls which also reduces the action of the chemical messengers that increase the permeability of vessel walls, thereby resulting in reduced bleeding in small vessels.
