Xpreza (azacitidine) is a type of chemotherapy drug that is used to treat myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). MDS are a group of blood cancers that affect the bone marrow.
Azacitidine works by killing cancer cells. It does this by damaging the DNA of cancer cells, which prevents them from dividing and growing.
Xpreza is taken as a tablet once a day. The usual starting dose is 75 mg once a day, but this may be increased to 100 mg once a day depending on how well the patient tolerates the drug.
