ZYMCIN 250 TABS (Azithromycin 250 mg)

Zymcin 250mg tablets contain azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, especially of the respiratory tract, skin, and genitourinary system. Azithromycin is valued for its once-daily dosing, excellent tissue penetration, and long half-life, allowing for shorter treatment courses compared to other antibiotics. Indications Zymcin 250mg is prescribed for the treatment of: Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (e.g. bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis) Skin and soft tissue infections Otitis media Non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis (e.g. Chlamydia trachomatis) Traveler??????s diarrhea Dental infections Typhoid fever (off-label use in some settings) Dosage and Administration Adults (general): 500mg once daily for 3 days or 500mg on Day 1 followed by 250mg once daily for 4 more days STI treatment: 1g single dose Children: Dose based on body weight (usually 10 mg/kg/day) Take at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals Contraindications Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin, or other macrolide antibiotics Severe hepatic impairment QT prolongation or known cardiac arrhythmias (use with caution) Use in Pregnancy and Lactation Pregnancy: Considered relatively safe (Category B ?????? animal studies show no risk, but no well-controlled human studies) Lactation: Small amounts may pass into breast milk; no known harm in standard doses Side Effects Common Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain Headache Mild skin rash Serious (Rare) Hepatotoxicity QT prolongation Severe allergic reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis) Clostridioides difficile??????associated diarrhea
